Realizations!
We had placement training by some corporate guy. My first opinion was that this was a complete waste of time as I had NO intentions of going for placements next year. But after asking opinions from my other friends, I went there with an open mind rather than just attending it because it was compulsory. I think that was the first placement training session which made ANY sense. He asked us a question,"How many of you respect yourself?" Most of the class raised their hands. He then asked us to take a sheet of paper and write things which we feel we can't do. The first thing I wrote was that I felt I can't have fun or sleep in because I felt guilty of wasting time. He asked us to stop after two minutes. He asked how many of our sheets were blank. Only one guy in a class of 60 raised his hand. That sir then told us that its hard for others to respect us if we didn't respect ourselves and saying we can't so something means we aren't respecting ourselves. He then asked us to take another sheet of paper and write about how we will change can't into can. And that made me feel liberated. I felt it was okay to enjoy myself because a few years from now, I'll remember college grades as a passing memory, but I'll remember all the fun stuff I did forever. So taking that as incentive, I skipped college today and went for a photography workshop =) I was short listed by a famous photographer to attend the workshop, after he reviewed my pictures. So it was worth taking off. =D Here's to a new beginning of life. A one where I spend time the way I want to, enjoying each moment. =)
